Sandbox Therapy believes finding a “good match” in a therapist is important to the therapeutic process. A “good match” not only includes the clinicians’ expertise matching your needs, but also in personality and style. Throughout treatment, we value open and honest conversations about the services you are receiving. We want to ensure you and your child understand and feel comfortable with the process from beginning to end.
The Sandbox Therapy approach in therapy sessions is playful and skill based. We value a direct and empathic communication style. We work with your family to identify the strengths you have and build from them. We use a variety of approaches in the treatment we offer including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, Narrative therapy, solution focused therapy as well as Mindfulness, relaxation strategies and emotions regulation skills. We currently offer both individual and family therapy appointments.
We accept the following insurances: Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tufts, Harvard Pilgrim/United/Optum as well as private pay. Please contact us to check availability.
We currently offer two 'Worry Well' workshops that children attend with a caregiver. The initial 'Worry Well' workshop is a skill based workshop. Children and caregivers gain insight about the symptoms of anxiety as well as what happens in the brain and body when one is experiencing anxiety. Children learn emotion regulation skills, relaxation skills, breathing strategies and an introduction to mindfulness. Caregivers learn how to validate their child's emotions, learn to respond rather than react as well as learn language that cultivates meaningful connection while gaining insight about their child's emotional experience.
The 'Worry Well 2.0' workshop is for those who have participated in the initial 'Worry Well' workshop and are interested in further developing and applying the concepts learned in the first workshop. Topics covered include gaining insight about the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors as well as understanding automatic negative thoughts and how to manage them effectively.
Both workshops run regularly. Please see flyers below and contact us with any questions.
Did you know that anxiety is more prevalent in children today than it ever has been before? Are you curious to learn more about what anxiety looks like in children and what to do about it? Amber Iller of Sandbox Therapy offers presentations on childhood anxiety. The presentation will help parents understand why anxiety is on the rise, how to identify if your child is struggling with anxiety and what to do about it. We will discuss some concrete interventions you can use with your child as well as some resources available to help you best support your child emotionally.
These presentations are available to daycares, private schools, after school programs, places of employment, dance studios or business's of the like.
Please contact us with any questions and/or for a fee schedule
